Day 4 of the Public Inquiry

It isn't appropriate to comment on the Inquiry, other than to give the process details and timetables. Any comments or observations could be taken out of context and be a mis-representation.

However, it is acceptable to state here how incredibly proud our Parishes should be of the way our Parish Chair, Mrs Sara Burrell conducted herself today under around 3 hours of cross examination by the barrister representing Crouchland Biogas Ltd. It has been ...a formidable task to prepare the Parishes' case and we are so grateful to Sara for facing this Inquiry with such honesty and resilience. Whilst all the other participants in this Inquiry are remunerated for their participation, we must not let go of the extraordinary sacrifices that our residents have made in order to protect our locality from something that we see is inappropriate and plainly wrong. We are all a part of that - and as a community we will continue to give the best we can. Thank you again to the residents who filled the seats today.

Simon Watts (Parishes' Transport Consultant) finished his cross-examination by Reuben Taylor QC. This was followed by Sara Burrell's (Chair of Plaistow & Ifold Parish Council) presentation of case and cross examination, which took the rest of the day.

We also give sincere thanks to our two expert witnesses, Dr Les Gornall and Simon Watts. Their contribution has been significant.

Our legal team continue to represent our Parishes in the coming days and will be preparing for their cross-examination of the Crouchland Biogas expert witnesses next week.

The Inquiry will re-convene next Wednesday and Thursday at 10am at The Conference Suite at Brinsbury Campus, North Heath, Pulborough RH20 1DL. Parking permits can be obtained from

The Inquiry has been extended to also include 12th, 24th and 25th May.

We will certainly enjoy our weekend - and we hope you do too.
