RHI reform means planning consent is a requirement from Spring 2017

Fantastic news!

Yesterday the Government confirmed a reformed RHI scheme, which includes the NEED FOR PLANNING CONSENT, before RHI is paid.

Now the battle continues to ensure this includes the current AD site, Crouchland Biogas, which does not have planning consent.

The reform also explains that subsidy will only be payable at the full rate for digesters that take no more than half their feedstock from crops ie process true waste

See page 33 regarding the planning consent requirement

This reform clearly shows us how the system is meant to work - and that the Government is not happy with the Crouchland scenario. This may not affect our community - but it will certainly stop it happening anywhere else - and it will let SGN and Crouchland Biogas know that they can't try it elsewhere.
